Has anyone with a Marketo integration migrated from on-prem to online?

We use PowerObjects for our heavy CRM lifting, and they were initially confident the Marketo component of the migration was minimal and talked through the recommended approach they would take.  We reached out to Marketo to get their take, and they said PO's approach was in fact not an option.  We asked Marketo for a quote to migrate us and they came back with a $160k, 6-month migration project (PO is going to take six weeks to migrate our entire CRM environment), which is exponentionally larger than our overall Marketo investment.  We're feeling pretty stuck at the moment and would love some input from the group.  Thanks!!

    Matt,

In our upgrade from On Prem to D365 CRM (executed 1/2017-8/2017), we faced the same challenge.  However, we could not even get a quote from Marketo for upgrade assistance.  So, we changed directions, implemented Click Dimensions and for the most part have not looked back.

We faced the same challenge last summer (2018).   We initially got a large quote from Marketo similar to yours.   We challenged if it was necessary to create a new instance of Marketo and they were not sure -- so we tested connecting our new D365 online environment with our existing Marketo instance and proved it would not work as needed.

We fortunately had a developer who figured out how to move our key assets from the old Marketo instance to the new one.  That may be your only option -- migrating on your own.  A year has passed and we still do not have the sync working with custom entities -- we only got OOB entities to sync.
