    Our Opportunity form is a bit out of control. We keep a track of many fields, optional and required, we have customized fields, business rules and workflows running there, and I feel like I could use some idea or samples of any of you having a good and logical structure to the forms.

    Just looking for any input into what you found works for users as far as the form being simple, easy to use, pleasing on the eyes. Do you have any tips? Willing to share any samples?

    The article by @Ryan Maclean is definitely worth a read. I'd say go and watch your users as they work with the forms. The form needs to match their work process. Are they having to jump around the form to do their work?

    And don't be afraid to have different forms for different departments/job functions. Each might be interested in different sets of fields. If you do this, do use security roles to only show relevant forms to a users.

    Definitely recommend the article mentioned above, we've implemented some of those suggestions and have had positive feedback.  Along with watching your users work, I'd suggest surveying a few of them as well as they'll know the best what works and what doesn't.  It also allows for them to have a sense of ownership of the new design and more willing to accept it.

    One other thing that we did that seemed to really help was to utilize the multiple sections on the form and make them collapsed by default.  This allows users to quickly get the section that they want and it's always at the top without having to scroll.

    @Kristina Bjerknes - I don't see any mention of the UCI yet and if you haven't migrated to it at this point I would reserve any major form re-design until you do. The article mentioned has some solid points as well as some opinion but the examples are based on the Classic UI which is outdated. Simplicity and data organization is always key but if you have mobile users, I also recommend taking this into account as anything you do organizationally on the web form directly affects how the mobile user accesses the same data. What may look good on a web form could potentially frustrate a mobile user by burying  data several swipes down.
