Sub-grid and opportunities

I created a new extension last week, now I need to add Opportunities and Contracts to this form but every time I try to copy the set up that is on our original Account form, it wont let me select same options on this new extension.

I pulled up the account form, and tried to copy this over, but I don't get this option under 'Only related' records. Even when I try to select the new extension name for Entity I still don't get Opportunities as an option.
What am I doing wrong?   I can only pull all Record types (which I dont want) and Opportunities from there. It doesn't give me any other options to search opportunity unless I go under All.

***update*** I realized I needed to create Relationships with both Opp and Contracts. Was able to get the correct drop down options but NOW my issue is the Opportunity section is showing as Look up only?!? I am completely at a loss. When I click the + to create an opportunity I get this below. How in the world do I fix it? @Aaron Back, MCSE  any thoughts?

If I'm understanding your problem correctly, I believe you need to make the lookup field dictating the relationship a business required field.  In your case this would be a lookup field on the opportunity that references the entity type where your subgrid lives.  For example, if your opportunity subgrid lives on the account form - you will need to make the Account lookup field on the opportunity a required field.  This will change the subgrid + button from a lookup and instead launch a new form creation.

@Heather Laughlin - Just out of curiosity, what type of relationship did you set up between your Custom entity, the Opportunity entity, and the Contracts entity? Was it 1:N (one to many)? Meaning there is 1 Custom entity record and many Opportunity records and/or many Contract records?

If so, then on the Opportunity form, you need to have a lookup field to the Custom entity. This field needs to be set as Required (as @Kyle Hess indicated).

Also, you need to consider if Quick Create forms would assist the users with data entry.

Lastly, you should be aware that the Contracts entity is being deprecated: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/get-started/whats-new/customer-engagement/important-changes-coming#contracts-contract-line-items-and-contract-templates-entities-are-deprecated
