Microsoft Marketing on CDS

Does anyone know if you can install Microsoft Marketing on CDS.

Also If you install it on a Dynamics Environment does the users Need a Dynamics Licence i.e sales or can they just have a Power app Licence.

We are looking at marketing products and we have a Dynamics CDS Environment but have moved all are licences from Dynamics Plan to Power apps Per app Licence which has saved us a lot in licence cost.

I know if we install ClickDimensions we need to have Microsoft Marketing Licence the users would require. As my understanding is Microsoft Marketing does not use marketing list but segments so I was wondering if all the user needed was a Power app licence.

    Hi Sailesh,

You do need a Dynamics Marketing license. You cannot provision a Dynamics 365 Marketing environment without it.

Also, the marketing list is still there in the Marketing module, the difference is, you can automate marketing using segments oob.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Hi Sailesh,

Dynamics 365 Marketing already runs on CDS. It's really just an extension of CE. So, the same contacts/accounts in Sales (or CDS) are the exact same records in Marketing.

Marketing is licensed separately and is not user based. Dynamics Marketing is licensed per "Marketing Contact". A marketing contact is defined as any contact that has a marketing related activity; email blast, segment, journey, subscription, event, etc. E.g. you may have 10,000 contacts in your database, but if you only market to 2,000 of them, you only pay for the 2,000.

In addition, any user, with the right security role can access the Marketing components without additional licensing. So, your sales or service or PowerApps end users can also access (and even use) Marketing.
