I am trying to make sure we have a plan in place if we need to restore our production environment.
I have read the Back up and restore environments documentation Microsoft but it get a little unclear to me on restoring production environments. In the section called Can I restore to a production environment? it states In order to prevent accidental overwrites, we don't allow users to directly restore to a production environment. To restore to a production environment, first switch it to a sandbox environment.
So after I switch the environment type to a sandbox what are the next steps?
Yes I read this and sorry but it was not clear enough to me.
So say I need to restore my Production instance. Following the instructions
Go to Environments > prd.crm.dynamics.com > Backups > Restore or manage.
Select a backup to restore
Select an environment to restore to (overwrite)
I want to restore to prd.crm.dynamics.com. But as is noted Only sandbox environments can be restored to.
So now I go down to Can I restore to a production environment?
Go to Environments > prd.crm.dynamics.com > Settings: Change type from Production to Sandbox
Can I now select prd.crm.dynamics.com because it is now a Sandbox?
Can I restore from prd.crm.dynamics.com to prd.crm.dynamics.com?
FYI: I enjoy the Podcasts you are involved with. I am also the Azure DevOps admin for our group trying to get people to use Agile tools. Some are using Scrum and others are more Kanban.
