Connections for Custom Facility Entity

We have a custom entity for facilities/locations. There was a request to be able to add specific site-contacts (think building manager, security officer, custodian, etc.) for each site record. I figured the best way to do this would be by utilizing the connection/connection role entities. I added the subgrid for Connections to the form but after publishing in the sandbox it appears I cannot add individual contacts. I see no + sign to do so (like how you can add individual connections for stakeholders at the opportunity entity).

Any recommendation on how to best accomplish this? Do I need to create a new connection role or category?

    Thanks!

@Ryan Nallen - With the Site Record open, click the "Connections" option from the Related Records menu. You will see a sub-grid appear with a "Connect" button in the corner. You can then select "To Another" or "To Me". You will need to click on "To Another".

A new window will appear to help create the connection to another record. Referencing the below screenshot, the Name field is a lookup field to other records in the system. By default, it lists the Account records. However, you can choose other record types (entities). At the bottom of the lookup list, click "Look up more records", then change the first field from Accounts to Contacts, then search for the contact you would like to connect to the Site record.
The field of "As this role" defines the category, so to speak, for this connection. New Connection Roles can be added, if needed.

@Aaron Back, MCSE, thanks so much. Very much appreciated.

Is there anyway to default it so that I (or the users) can just click the + sign on the subgrid to add a contact and then choose a role? That's how we have it set up at the opportunity level where you can click the + sign to add a stakeholder (which defaults to a contact record) and then provides a dropdown of stakeholder roles to choose from. Trying to make this as easy (and as less steps) as possible for the end user.

Hi @Ryan Nallen & @Aaron Back, MCSE  , Did either of you ever find a solution to this? To make it less clicks for the user? Right now in the UI you have to click '...' and then see associated records and then connect:

Is there a way to add the Connect button to the Opportunity Form, like on Account or Contact?

    thanks!

    Hi all,

We did have the same issues and wanted to make it as simple as possible for users.

We are using the existing "Connect" button stated by @Aaron Back, MCSE but directly in the main ribbon of the entity. We also renamed the button to "Add Contact"

Then, we did a little bit of javascript to force only Contacts in the field Name :

We also have one case where there was only one role available so we did pu it by default using Javascript when clicking on the button "Add Contact".
This was rather quite easy to do, if you are not against a bit of Javascript customization. If you need more details about it, let me know and I will gladly help
    Best regards,
