    Hi-
Has anyone came across a way to include Opportunity Products in an e-mail template notification?
We notify the sales managers after a new Opportunity is created and would like to be able to include the Opportunity Products in the e-mail.

Appreciate any past experiences dealing with.

    thanks

I believe the Workflow Elements add-on (free) by @Aiden Kaskela will work for this purpose. I know it will work for sending an itemized receipt via email, so it should also be able to work to send an itemized opportunity email to a user.

It also has a number of other very useful features.

    HI @Ron Goetz,

If using workflows, @Geoff Ables is spot on with Workflow Elements by @Aiden Kaskela.  It will allow you to query for the related records using FetchXML, and then place the results in a table.   If you need to do line item price extensions, and totals, you may need to calculate those separately.  I'm guessing you aren't writing your own custom workflow activities, but if you want to explore this option and have questions, let me know.

If using a Flow / Power Automate this can be done without custom code / extensions.  I'd recommend this route, as it is the direction MSFT is moving.

    Ron,

You should check out our DocumentsCorePack Add-On for Dynamics 365.  You can download a free trial on the MS AppSource Store, and we provide free support during the trial period if you have any questions while getting started.  Or if you want to see a few quick examples first, I can always show you how this can easily be done in my live demo environment.

    Hi Ron,

Jumping back in here to say that the follow-up suggestions made are both excellent and I should have thought of them myself. A bit more info on each of the 3 provided:

    • My first suggestion: Probably makes the most sense if you're not yet ready/able to use Power Automate and have very little budget. It works with any version of D365/CRM and is fairly simple to setup. It does include some other tools/functions that you'll probably find helpful.
    • Power Automate: As the author of that idea mentioned, it is better to develop new processes in Power Automate rather than Workflows. I've not tried to do what you're specifically looking for in Power Automate, but I believe it is possible.

    • Documents Core Pack: This is a great option and includes a tremendous amount of additional functionality. We use this ourselves and several of our clients use it too. If you want the most elegant solution, and the ability to do a lot more with documents, this is the solution I would run with. There is a cost involved in this one, but there is also a significant amount of functionality that you get for the investment.

    Hi @Ron Goetz,

Thanks for the ping @Geoff Ables and @Ryan Perry. If you're looking for a Workflow based solution, Workflow Elements is the way to go. It's free and open source and will do exactly what you're looking for. Here's a walkthrough on sending an itemized receipt, and in your case you'd do the exact same thing but with opportunity instead of invoice: https://kaskelasolutions.com/how-to-send-an-itemized-receipt-2/

One thing you'd need to account for is that you won't send your workflow on create of the invoice because at the moment of creation it won't have any line items associated with it. You'd either need to put a timeout on the workflow to allow for all the line items to be added, or some trigger field on the opportunity that says it's ready to send to the sales manager.

Hope this helps - let me know if you have any questions and we can dig into it.

    Thanks,
      Aiden

Happy to help @Ron Goetz. One thing I forgot to mention - you can also do totals if you want to include that under the grid (but I guess you can get that from the opportunity as well). You can forms your fetch xml the same way as the opportunity products but update the fetch so it's an aggregate query and sums on the value, this will give you a single value result and you can access it from the Single Value output parameters.
