Dynamics Marketing Form Field Contact Mapping to Company Name

    Hey there,

    We've been trying to set up a new form field in Marketing for Dynamics. We're setting up the Company Name field but are unable to select "company Name" from the "Contact mapping" drop down. It is, however, available in the "Lead mapping" drop down. We've not run into any other problems like this in any other form field. It seems that only when trying to select "Company Name" is when the issue occurs. Any thoughts on how we can get Company Name into the Contact mapping field or why it's not showing up?

    Hi Bryan,

    Depends on how your system is set up, but on a Contact record the Company Name field is a lookup (Customer) but on a Lead record the Company Name field is a single line of text.  I believe that could be causing the issue  You may want to reuse or create another field on the Contact record to save that company name from the marketing form, and then use a workflow or something else to set the lookup field.

    Thanks, Ben. We had suspicions it was due to the Customer type. Were hoping for other validation, but it looks like a workaround is in order.

    Hello Bryan,

    Ben is correct, you cannot map a text field to a lookup.

    * Anyone that is not in the system you can add them as a lead and through qualification you can go through a matching process if that Account is already in the system and if not create a new account. This does require some manual checks but there are ways this can be automated.
    * Anyone that is already in the system will already have the account populated on the contact therefore there is no matching needed.
