Experiences with querying audit logs

    Hi everyone,

    We were interested in learning about what sort of experiences you've had with with reporting on changes kept in the audit log. We've run into an issue where we need to identify contact records with data that changed in a certain field but are having a difficult time figuring out how to use the audit log to identify these en masse. Has anyone else had an experience like this? Have you been able to use SQL or another third party application to search audit logs?

    Thanks!
    Matt

    I have not had much luck using SQL, but have had luck using the XRMToolBox Audit History Extractor.

    We've used Kingswaysoft and it was ok, at least we found what we were looking for.

    +1 for KingswaySoft.  We have had some audit log issues with a known Dynamics defect, but KingswaySoft is a great extraction tool to get them out for analysis/reporting.

    Agree with @Kyle Buggie, once you have the audit extracted out into a SQL server you could do various SQL queries to get the OLD Value / New Value of fields. However if you know of a specific set of records or you would like to see if there is pattern across a smaller subset of records than if you have a developer on site you could get someone to put together something like screen shot below

    @Matthew Epstein

    Do you have a on-premise implementation with access to SQL Servers or is this Dynamics 365 online ?

    Thank you both Kyle and Abdul, we will take a look at KingswaySoft, we are using Dynamics 365 online rather than on-premise.
